As a Milwaukee area photographer, but not a city of Milwaukee native, I try to incorporate aspects of the area into my wedding photographs to help tell the story of my clients' big day. In the image above, Gina and Jason weren't actually married at the Pfister. Rather, they had a church wedding, followed by their reception at The Garden - a SURG Banquet Facility, just around the corner.
Gina's mother had passed away, and the Pfister was where her mom had worked. It brought back memories for Gina & stealing a few moments with the couple to capture this photo and allow them to honor her mother was a must-do event on their wedding night.
Participating in wedding shows and expos in the Milwaukee area has given me the opportunity to work with more and more couples in the Brew City, and discover some great venues and hidden gems when it comes to photo shoot locations.
Most recently, I photographed a wedding at the Church of the Gesu. What an incredibly gorgeous church!! Brittany & Steven also wanted to incorporate St. Francis de Sales Seminary in their wedding photos because of the beautiful, long entry way lined with giant trees, creating an almost tunnel and making for some beautiful photos. For most Milwaukee Photographers, I'm sure that the Milwaukee Public Market is a popular location to include in the backdrop of their photos. As you can see in the above linked gallery, Brittany & Steven hosted their reception there and we absolutely made time to get outside and capture that beautiful lit sign at dusk.
The department of parks, recreation and culture requires Milwaukee Photographers to obtain a permit for photoshoots in all of it's city parks. Applications must be submitted at least 2 weeks before the required date, and are issued at a per hour basis. The fees are roughly $70/hour.
