Home for the Holidays

It's 2020, the year of the pandemic and all things we'd like to forget, am I right?

I don't know about you, but I'm having a hard time getting into the holiday spirit. I usually take down all my regular decor and knick knacks, and replace them with a ton of Christmas decorations. This year, it's only the tree & stockings - and the tree is totally half-ass decorated. Like - we have a green string of white twinkle lights, and a white string of icicle lights connected together, and then maybe a couple dozen random ornaments....it looks like a toddler threw a bucket of home-made decorations at the tree and called it a day.

One thing I did do, however, is take photos of my kids decorating the tree - just like I do every year. I knew that I'd be upset with myself if I didn't. It's the ONE thing I can't NOT do in 2020. No matter how much we want this year to be done and over with, documenting it is still essential.

As a matter of fact, I make a photo album every single year, printing out photos (cell phone and professional grade) of the highlights of our adventures and milestones. The kids love looking back at them, and so do I. It's amazing how much we forget, and photos are there to remind us - of the good times and the tough. So this year, I'm going allllllllll out. I'm making a big, heavy duty, leather bound, thick page, heirloom album of the shitstorm that was 2020.

Oddly enough, this post was to try to encourage you to take photos of your family this holiday season. I seriously don't mean to be a debbie-downer - so I'm gonna reset the mood here.

Grab your phone, your camera, or hire your favorite photographer - and document your life this season. Capture the little things that make you smile. End 2020 on a high note, and celebrate (safely) with those you love the most. Even if it's over Zoom. TAKE A PHOTO OF THAT TOO! Seriously - this is a holiday for the history books, and you don't want to let it be forgotten.

Here's my plug....I'll wear a mask, and I won't touch anything, and I'll keep my distance....I'm available to come to your home and capture your family this holiday season. Documentary / lifestyle -style. I know this isn't ideal, and it's not for everyone - and you might be nervous....and if you'd rather I stay outside and do a porch portrait, and photograph you through your living room window all Scrooge McDuck style, I will.

Contact me and we can discuss customizing a price for you.
